The Zonal Youth Committee (ZYC) was the sole organ that managed to survive when others were faced with problems. This led to a situation where all the load of political work generally in the region rested on the shoulders of the ZYC. The formation of the Zonal Political Committee (ZPC) was brought about by the series of discussions between the ZYC and the Directorate (the highest body of administrative structures) as a result of the ZYC's initiative. Under the ZYC programme, among other things, all National Days were properly marked. The ZYC was politically organised and active in the region. It further strengthened the relations between Tanzanian Youth, particularly in joint politico-cultural activities. Although the focus here is based on the ZYC, there were other functions that generally the ANC Youth were involved in, i.e., the relations with other youth internationally.
