The Correspondence series consists of
correspondence from Azapo and BCM(A) with each organisation forming its own subseries.
This has been done because these two organisations operated separately with Azapo
operating inside South Africa and BCMA in exile.The Azapo subseries consists of
correspondence from and to Azapo branches inside South Africa and runs from 1981-1996. The
BCMA subseries consists of correspondence from BCM(A) regions. This subseries runs from
1977-1994. The correspondence series also reveals the activities and connections made by
Azapo/BCM(A) with other organisations, international agencies, embassies and other
political organisations.

The Meetings and Reports series contains
Azapo/BCM(A) and non-Azapo/BCM(A) agendas, minutes, reports, conferences and resolutions.
These are arranged chronologically and span from 1979-1997.

The Statements, Speeches and Addresses
series contains statements, lectures and adresses made by Azapo officials. These
statements span from 1970-1997. Included in this series are non-Azapo Statements, Speeches
and Adresses that were collected by the organisation. Also included in this series is the
interviews subseries. Of interest in this series is the interview with Tsietsi Mashinini
who was the president of the Soweto Students Representative Council and a central leader
of the mass students protests that began in Soweto in mid June 1976. Also of interest is
the interview with Steve Biko.

The Press Statements/Releases series
consists of press statements that were made by AZAPO/BCM(A) in general. These were
statements that were made in response to editorial comments which were written about
AZAPO/BCM(A), events in South Africa and the world generally. These statements are
arranged chronologically from 1982-1995. Also included in this series are non-Azapo Press
Statements which span from 1981-1995

The Projects and Proposals
series contains information about proposed projects and programs. These are classified
within subject or topical headings. These documents span from 1978-1994.

The Policy Documents series
documents constitution and organisational guidelines which provide insight into the
structure and policies of Azapo.

The Biographical Material series
contains information such as biographies, applications, Curriculum Vitae and obituaries of
people like Muntu Myeza

The Topical Series contains material gathered
by AZAPO/BCM on a variety of subjects and from different organisations, arranged
alphabetically. Included in this series is a collection of documents that give information
on the history of the organisation. Also included in this series is a file on Steve Biko
which contains his biography and articles that were written about him.

AZAPO/BCM(A) Publications series
consists of journals, newsletters, pamphlets and other publications. The series is divided
into two subseries: Azapo/BCM(A) publications, which consist of material printed by the
various offices of Azapo/BCM, and non-Azapo Publications subseries.

The Newspaper Clippings series
contains newspaper cuttings that were kept by Azapo/ BCM. They consist of news about
Azapo/BCM, South Africa, Apartheid and other relevant information.
